Do You Remember the Calgon “Take Me Away” Commercial?

Life has felt extra … *gestures wildly* … lifey lately, and I keep finding myself fantasizing about my first apartment where it was just me and my thoughts (plus some personally curated Moroccan décor).

If you’re old enough, you may remember the 1980s Calgon commercials that coined the phrase, “Calgon, take me away!”.

Thoughts of that little studio apartment have been my Calgon refuge in the midst of stress, grief, and illness. Except this time, I have a different motif in mind.

I’ve recently started watching Acapulco on Netflix and am inspired by all the pinks and greens on screen. I do love a good palm, and it got me thinking about how I would decorate my old studio if I could have an apartment re-do right now.

Everything revolves around this velvety couch. I love the pinkish-brown hue called “Chestnut” by Anabei. It’s one of those pieces that constantly pops up on social media and has been saved to a variety of my design folders over the past couple of years.

I’d add some plants, especially a palm, with pink ceramic pots.

And, of course, a resort-worthy art print to pull it all together.

My first apartment was itty bitty so I don’t think I’d add much more than this, but it would be the perfect escape — don’t you think?
