In the Vines
Joe and I celebrated our TWENTIETH anniversary last week! How wild is that?! It feels like weโve been together for a hundred years while at the same time our first date feels like only a couple of weeks ago. I love that so much!
There are so many things that I could say about our relationship and how weโve made it this far with so much joy and very little dramarama, but what I really want to talk about today is a bathtub.
Yes, a bathtub!
We find ourselves, from time to time, fantasizing about living in Temecula, CA. Itโs warm and beautiful, and sprinkled with dreamy wineries. The idea of sipping vino and watching Temeculaโs infamous hot air balloons float by felt like the perfect way to spend this momentous occasion.
The Carter Estate Winery and Resort welcomed us with bottles of their rich Merlot, peppery Syrah, and a crisp Brut that was honestly one of the best Iโve had in years.
The room itself was a lovely cobalt and cream bungalow with French doors that opened to an enclaved patio mere steps from the vines. Within two minutes of arriving, I was literally walking amongst vines of delicate baby merlot grapes, giddy yet careful to not disturb the future wine!
I was sure that I was going to spend every second of our stay on that patio, reading Chelsea Faganโs A Perfect Vintage, but I actually ended up spending an obscene amount of time in our roomโs enormous bathtub.
Truly, this bathtub was glorious. It was so deep that I couldnโt help but float once it was filled. Itโs where I did the majority of my reading and wine sipping! I did manage to pull myself away for an anniversary dinner of sushi and cocktails, but then it was right back to the tub.
Iโd feel bad about spending so much of our anniversary in the bathroom if it werenโt for the fact that Joe was just as obsessed with the tub as I was. Relationships really are about little compromises, so we took turns and shared this spa-like experience.
Checking out of the Carter Estate Winery and Resort was a bummer but weโre already planning our next stay!
